Terrence Brady Named President of Underwriters Laboratories Inc.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Feb. 27, 2018  –  Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), the Not-For-Profit operations of UL, announced today that its Board of Trustees has elected Terrence R. Brady as its President. Brady previously served as UL’s Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial and Legal Officer and Secretary. Keith Williams will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Underwriters Laboratories and as CEO and President of UL's For-Profit business.

“Our mission and the work we do in the not-for-profit organization are vitally important to UL and Terry is the right person to drive the strategy forward,” said James Shannon, chair of the UL Board of Trustees. “The board unanimously agreed Terry’s leadership expertise made him the right choice for this dynamic role.”

Brady said, “I am honored to help continue UL’s remarkable journey of growth and transformation, strongly guided and supported by our board since Keith Williams joined UL in 2005. As safety challenges become more complex, UL’s dedication to our public safety mission coupled with our deep science and engineering expertise are critical to helping society overcome these challenges.”   

Brady has served at UL since January 2012. Prior to joining UL, he was an associate and partner for 27 years in the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn LLP, concentrating his practice in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and corporate governance. Brady attended Dartmouth College and Notre Dame Law School, where he was Editor in Chief of the Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy. He lives in Winnetka, Illinois with his wife and two sons.
