November 7, 2016

Taiwan has passed the legislation that bans testing cosmetics products and its ingredients in animals.

Introduced by Legislators Wang YuMin and Zhuang Rui Xiong, the regulation amends the Cosmetic Hygiene Act.

Failure to comply would result to monetary fine of NT$150,000 (US$4,731) and the destruction of the products. Closure of businesses and wholly or partially revocation of registration will be imposed to serious or repeating violators.

The legislation will take effect in 2019.
