South Africa Regulates Sodium in Certain Foodstuffs

South Africa’s Department of Health has notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its ‘Regulations relating to the Reduction of Sodium in certain Foodstuffs and Related Matters: Amendment (Government Notice R. 989 of 6 September 2016).’

The notified document establishes provisions for reducing sodium in certain foodstuffs and related matters under the control of the Department of Health, in terms of the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act, 1972 (Act 54 of 1972).

Comments may be submitted until November 30, 2016.
