SASO Enforces Electrical Self-Balancing Scooters, Technical Regulation, 2016

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has enforced the Electrical Self-Balancing Scooters, Technical Regulation, 2016 starting December 3, 2016.

This technical regulation provides the general requirements for electrical self-balancing scooters being marketed and sold in the country.

The regulation requires the following:

  • Conformity assessments documents
  • Product manuals which contain cautionary statements, along with instructions for operation and use.
  • Packaging should be free from heavy metals
  • Product labels must contain explanatory statements containing manufacturer trademarks, trade names, and the country of origin particulars, in both Arabic and English scripts

This regulation was first proposed in April 2016.
