NHFPC Releases Revised Draft of GB 9685: Food Contact Material Standard

The National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) has released a revised draft of the GB 9685: Food Contact Material Standard. The proposed regulation amends GB 9685-2008.

The amendments of this new version include the following:

  • Name is changed to: “GB 9685xxxx National Food Safety Standard for Uses of Additives in Food Contact Materials and their Products”
  • Approval of 1,316 food contact materials additives
  • Removal of 13 substances
  • Revision of the application scope of 56.6 NHFPC Releases Revised Draft of GB 9685: Food Contact Material Standard (China) phthalates
  • Special restriction applied for six substances used in materials in contact with baby food

The new version of the standard is based on international food contact material standards.
