Helping Shape the Future of Europe’s Data Centers

As demand for data centers grows, UL Solutions joins EUDCA to contribute expertise to discussions on the technologies, policies and standards shaping Europe’s digital future.

From streaming content and online shopping to artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, many of the technologies people rely on every day depend on data centers. As demand for digital services continues to grow, the industry is working to balance the need for greater capacity with evolving expectations around energy use, sustainability and infrastructure resilience.

To support those efforts, UL Solutions has joined the European Data Centre Association (EUDCA) as a Large Vendor member. EUDCA brings together data center operators, equipment suppliers and industry associations from across Europe to promote collaboration and dialogue on infrastructure that supports responsible innovation and economic growth.

EUDCA’s State of European Data Centres 2026 report indicates that commercial colocation and hyperscale facilities now provide more than two-thirds of Europe’s IT power, driven by the growing demand for cloud computing and AI. The report also notes that data centers are now “strategic infrastructure critical to Europe’s economic competitiveness and security.”

Through testing, inspection, certification, advisory and software offerings, UL Solutions works across the data center ecosystem to help stakeholders build confidence in the products, systems and technologies that support safe, secure, high-performing and sustainable operations. By joining EUDCA, UL Solutions will have additional opportunities to collaborate with other experts on some of the most important issues facing the sector today.

As part of its membership, UL Solutions has committed to participating in several EUDCA working groups and the association’s technical committee. These groups meet regularly to discuss emerging trends, technologies and policy developments related to topics such as performance standards, grid codes, permitting frameworks and circular economy initiatives. The forums provide a platform for sharing technical expertise and contributing to conversations that will help shape the future of Europe’s data center industry.
