Sravya Prabhala

What does it take to build AI people can truly trust? That question drives Sravya Prabhala's work.

As an AI Safety Scientist at UL Solutions and an expert in responsible AI and ethical governance, she helps organizations navigate the intersection of innovation, safety, and governance, transforming complex AI systems into trustworthy, compliant, and market-ready products. Her focus is on advancing innovation in ways that serve people as effectively as they advance capability.

“Whether it's building responsible AI pipelines across academic and translational settings, advocating for better data governance, or facilitating AI literacy across disciplines. I'm driven by a commitment to align technological innovation with the public good.” Sravya said.

She brings that vision to life through explainable AI systems, legal research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and translational innovation.

A dual-discipline foundation

Sravya brings together expertise in engineering, law, and AI governance to translate complex technical systems into practical frameworks for responsible AI.

She holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida, specializing in signal processing and machine learning, with command of computer vision, deep learning, and data science. She also holds a Master of Science in Law from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she focused on regulation and the ethical governance of AI and emerging technologies. Together, these disciplines enable her to connect cutting-edge engineering systems with actionable legal and institutional frameworks.

A diverse professional background has further sharpened that foundation. At Northwestern University, she conducted academic and translational research in Applied AI for Biomedical Engineering, focused on early-stage cancer detection. In high-velocity startup environments, she applied deep learning to cancer diagnosis and to optimizing consumer experiences in retail and e-commerce.

Safety leadership in a shifting regulatory landscape

Sravya delivers strategic guidance and designs comprehensive global safety frameworks at the leading edge of a fast-changing legal landscape. She advises on compliance with mandates such as the EU AI Act, established standards including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF), and regulatory obligations spanning privacy requirements including GDPR and HIPAA, as well as sector-specific standards such as FDA SaMD.

Deep technical skill powers her safety and regulatory compliance strategy. She mitigates model risk, strengthens algorithmic transparency, and tackles bias, adversarial threats, and data drift across the full AI product lifecycle. She applies this expertise to support the safe, accountable development and deployment of AI/ML systems across diverse industries, including healthcare, retail and legal technologies.
