Mexico City, July 1, 2019 – UL, a world leader in renewable energies advisory services, together with the Energy Commission of the State of Tamaulipas (CETAM), has developed the Wind Atlas of the State of Tamaulipas. The work was created with industry-leading tools and methodologies using models of climatic numerical prediction. These models were validated and adjusted with real data from multiple project developers in the area to help create maps featuring potential wind energy that are accessible to all.

Once the output data of the models was obtained, UL and CETAM collaborated with the Mexico Ministry of Energy (SENER) and utilized current and public platforms of the federal government (INEL and AZEL) to develop a wind atlas with the goal of helping further boost renewable energy in Tamaulipas.

"The development of a high quality wind atlas for Tamaulipas is another example that the State is consolidating as a national benchmark in this industry," said Andrés Fusco Clynes, commissioner of the Energy Commission of the State of Tamaulipas.  “Collaborating inter-institutionally is a sign that the federal government of Mexico and the State are working in harmony, so that the energy transition happens, especially in renewable energies."

"UL is proud to collaborate in this initiative that will allow all interested parties to access a high quality wind Atlas with models of greater accuracy than those available so far," said José Vidal Pérez, technical director of UL energy services. "We are very happy to contribute to the development of new projects in Mexico."
