UL’s new fire safety testing laboratory in the United Arab Emirates was specially designed to test to standards for:
- Flame retardant and fire resistant cables
- Fire alarm cables
- Building wires with fire resistance ratings
- Fiber Optic Component (FOC) cables with fire resistance ratings
Please join us online for the official laboratory opening, and get a first look at the new facilities. There will be a technical presentation of interest to manufacturers, brands and suppliers of electrical and fiber optic cables and busways. As vice president and general manager for UL’s Engineered Materials Customer Operating Unit (COU), L.F. is responsible for the industry strategy development and execution and the global business performance. Prior to this role, Lai held various leadership positions at UL, including vice president and general manager for UL’s Wire & Cable division, vice president and managing director for Greater China and sales and marketing director for Asia Pacific.
Since 1993, Hamid held various leadership roles, including general manager and managing director for Europe. In 2014 he moved to Dubai, UAE as the vice president and general manager for MEA. In this role, Hamid and his team are responsible for growing UL’s safety mission by working with key authorities in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan to help ensure safe living and working environments for their communities.
Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) Jürgen Henschel
Juergen joined UL in 2017 as Director and Regional GM for the Material Testing Business for EMEA. In this role, he is responsible for leading the regional engineering team located in four countries, as well as regional operations, sales and procurement. In 2021 Juergen’s responsibility was grew to include the Wire & Cable business in EMEA.
David has 35+ years of experience in testing, inspection and certification. He has spent almost 25 years focused on the fire performance of wires and cable for manufacturers, specifiers and regulators across the globe. He is the scheme owner for UL’s Wire and Cable Construction Products Regulation (CPR) program in addition to supporting its European and MENA Wire and Cable activities with specific focus to further developing its cable fire testing and certification capabilities.
