“Without thinking through safety implications, we cannot innovate and make progress.” — Sudhi Ranjan Sinha, VP Account Based, Vertical Marketing & Global Accounts

Every day at UL Solutions brings new conversations, fresh challenges and opportunities to shape safer innovation. In this employee spotlight, we meet Sudhi Sinha, whose work sits at the intersection of customer engagement, emerging technology and safety science. From partnering with customers early in their innovation journeys to mentoring global account teams, Sudhi helps build the confidence markets need to grow. Outside of work, this curiosity-driven mindset extends into writing, learning and travel — resulting in multiple books focused on technology, business and the evolving role of safety.

What does a typical day at UL Solutions look like for you?
I have the opportunity to work with a wide range of customers, so every day is different. However, my work always involves engaging with our customers, learning more about their business, identifying areas where we can help them reach their horizon line of innovation, reviewing business performance and, most importantly, engaging with and mentoring our front-line global account colleagues.

Why is creating a safer world important to you?
We live in a very dynamic and increasingly complex world that is being rapidly transformed by technology and shifts in the supply chain. For economies and societies to grow, it is important that people have confidence in the products and systems that support their lives daily. Our safety science mission helps build that market confidence. Without thinking through safety implications, we cannot innovate and make progress.

How do the UL Solutions Core Values of Safety, Integrity, Respect and Growth show up in your day-to-day work?
Every day, we have to engage with customers to help them gain market access and create market confidence in their innovations. The core of our ability lies in the trust people place on our brand, which is reflected through the values of safety, integrity, respect and growth. These values define how we conduct ourselves inside of the company and also in the market. Many companies have commendable values; I have rarely seen companies practice them so well as UL Solutions does.

What do you like to do when you're not working?
By nature, I like to learn and relax. On the lazy side of my non-work hours, I like to watch a crazy amount of TV, specifically crime dramas and comedy. To feed my curiosity for learning, I read, interact with people and travel.

One of the ways I like to crystallize my learning is by writing. That is how I have ended up publishing five books so far.

Has your time at UL Solutions influenced your writing thus far?
In addition to the five books I’ve already published, I am currently developing some new ideas for future books. These books are Making Big Data Work For Your Business, Building Effective IoT Ecosystems, Reimagining Businesses With AI, Building 5.0, and Safety 5.0. Due to the nature of my role at ULS, I end up traveling quite a bit, which has been very helpful in this pursuit. I get a lot of great exposure. My time at UL Solutions has definitely influenced my writing. The last two books have been written while I have been at UL Solutions. Now, I focus more on the safety and science aspects of the topics.

What excites you about working with our customers every day?
I am always excited to learn more about their business, priorities and how we can help them navigate their growth agenda.

I feel that I am learning and growing every day. Working for UL Solutions has taught me a lot about the regulatory landscape, global supply chains and what drives revenue growth and differentiation.

Can you share some of the coolest things you've been part of at ULS?
Developing new certification and verification programs, getting engaged very early in the customer’s innovation cycle and, most importantly, getting exposure to the variety of industries that UL Solutions serves.
