On July 9, 2021, ​the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) published the Technical Regulations for Limiting Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Appliances and Equipment with a mandatory implementation date of Jan. 5, 2022.

This regulation aims to determine the maximum contents of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and their spare parts and determine the conformity assessment procedures that suppliers must comply with to help ensure preservation of the environment and the health and safety of the consumer.
