Companies and governments are pursuing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for a safer, more sustainable planet. Learn how UL services contribute to these goals.
What are the UN Sustainable Development Goals?
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 aspirational goals to transform our world. Businesses have an opportunity to be major contributors to the goals and can use them to communicate their sustainability efforts.
The SDGs are goals that will help bring peace and prosperity to people and the planet. While this sounds like a daunting challenge, the 17 goals and their 169 individual targets encompass sustainability issues that many businesses are already pursuing.
How can businesses contribute?
Businesses can contribute in many ways through their environmental, social and governance initiatives, and UL can help companies pursue, measure and report their achievements to the market. Our services help companies contribute to the goals in many ways including:
• Developing healthier, more sustainable products
• Measuring and reporting carbon emissions
• Operating healthy, sustainable and resilient buildings
• Measuring and reporting key sustainability metrics
We can also help companies increase responsible consumption and production practices through waste reduction and increased use of recycled content.
