Lithium battery testing and certification
Battery-operated products have become essential tools for business and leisure. Continued market growth relies on safety, efficiency and reliability of batteries in battery-operated products.
We have more than 40 years of experience in battery performance testing.

CTIA Authorized Testing Laboratory (CATL)
As a Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) Authorized Test Laboratory (CATL), we can test and certify mobile phone rechargeable battery products and systems to the CTIA Battery Certification Program.
The CTIA Battery Certification Program evaluates the conformance of applicable products, including lithium-ion battery cells and packs, chargers and adapters to IEEE Standard 1725™1-2006, Standards for Rechargeable Batteries for Cellular Telephones.
Global battery safety standards and regulations
We evaluate, test and certify virtually every type of battery available — including lithium-ion battery cells and Standard packs, chargers and adapters — to UL Standards as well as key international, regional and national regulations, including:
- UL 1642, the Standard for Lithium Batteries
- UL 2054, the Standard for Household and Commercial Batteries
- UL 1989, the Standard for Valve Regulated or Vented Batteries
- UL 4200A, the Standard for Products Incorporating Button Batteries or Coin Cell Batteries
- UL 2271, the Standard for Batteries for Use in Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) Applications
- UL 2056, the Standard for Power Banks
- UL/CSA/IEC 60950, the Standard for Information Technology Equipment, (may be evaluated in conjunction with UL 2054)
- UL/CSA/IEC 60065, the Standard for Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus, (batteries used in audio and video equipment)
- IEC/UL 62133-1, the Standard for Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes - Safety Requirements for Portable Sealed Secondary Cells, and for Batteries Made from Them, for Use in Portable Applications - Part 1: Nickel Systems
- IEC/UL 62133-2, the Standard for Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes - Safety Requirements for Portable Sealed Secondary Cells, and for Batteries Made from Them, for Use in Portable Applications - Part 2: Lithium Systems
- Japan’s DENAN Ordinance Article 1
Appendix 9 - CTIA—IEEE 1625 and 1725
- Taiwan’s BSMI standards
- IATA/UN DOT/UN 38.3 T1-T8 (or IEC 62281)
