United States Issues Final Rule on Jadeite and Rubies Mined or Extracted From Burma

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Department of Treasury (DoT) have released a Final Rule entitled Prohibition on Importation of Jadeite or Rubies Mined or Extracted from Burma, and Articles of Jewelry Containing Jadeite or Rubies Mined or Extracted from Burma.

The final rule amends regulations to update the provisions relating to the prohibition on importation of jadeite or rubies mined or extracted from Burma, and articles of jewelry containing jadeite or rubies mined or extracted from Burma.

This final rule, published on August 23, 2016, follows the expiration of the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act of 2003.
