UL and RICOH to introduce Tele-presence learning for Public Workshops in 2018

January 26, 2018

UL, a global safety science company, and Ricoh USA, Inc., a technology and services company, announced the public workshops under UL’s Additive Manufacturing Training program will now incorporate a new Tele-presence capability. Leveraging a propriety technology developed by Ricoh, students can now participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 instructor-led training courses from the comfort of their own home or office via video conference without sacrificing the group dynamic that makes instructor-led training so effective.

“We’ve been receiving numerous inquiries for public workshops at locations and geographies we haven’t visited yet”, said Melissa Albrecht, UL AM global program manager. “Tele-presence is a great way for us to reach those audiences in an effective way, providing greater access to instructor-led training while decreasing travel as a potential deterrent for participation.”

Stan Godard, Ricoh’s Director of Services Training and Knowledge Management added how Tele-presence will expand the Ricoh partnership with UL. “This delivery method will expand our reach by making training available to a larger audience. Tele-presence delivery allows us to maintain a high-level of student engagement while minimizing the cost of training to our customers by eliminating the need to travel.”

UL and RICOH will debut the new learning format for interested students at the Foundations of 3D Printing and Design for AM workshops scheduled for March 19 and March 20 – 22, 2018 and the Managing Quality and Safety in AM workshop scheduled for May 22 – 23, 2018.
