Israel Eyes to Impose Markings for Unhealthy Food Products

Landing Copy: The Ministry of Health of Israel is eyeing to impose markings for unhealthy food products. This is proposed by the "Committee for Regulation to Promote Healthy Nutrition."

The recommendation by the committee specifies that food manufacturers will be required to mark food products containing high levels of sugar, salt or fat with a warning label.

The label will be in color red for a clearer warning. The labeling requirement will be implemented in the following stages:

  • First stage will start in January 2018
  • Second stage 18 months later, in July 2019
  • Last stage will come into effect in December 2020

This is believed to be a big breakthrough in the whole food industry.
