Registration is now open for select Singapore-based AM training sessions. The courses are part of the Tier 2 level of the AM training program and earned credits can apply to UL’s professional certification in AM. All courses will be held at the Advanced Remanufacturing & Technology Centre (ARTC).
The featured topic for this training cycle is AM Economics. AM Economics is intended for engineers, engineering management, executives, or investors who desire to quantitatively analyze the economics of the AM supply chain as well as justify and monitor different types of investments in the AM industry. Utilizing a series of real-world technical and business case studies, this 2 1/2 day, instructor-led curriculum addresses the following industry challenges:
- Costs and investments for engineering, man hours and materials
- Level of accuracy and speed of machines with larger build volume
- Quality and safety
- Communication protocols and legal clarity
- Education and Training for both operators and AM designers
AM Economics will be taught by guest instructor, Drs. Onno Poonfoort. Poonfort, 3D Printing Practice Leader with the Dutch consulting firm Berenschot, has been involved in 3D printing / Additive Manufacturing (AM) for the past 15 years. Mr. Poonfoort specializes in looking at the business side of this new technology, facilitating the set-up of new ventures for 3D printing services and development centers, consulting with multinational organizations and public economic development authorities with their investment in 3D printing, and participating in many international development projects to further the use of 3D printing in industry. He and his team collaborated with UL on the UL AM Training Program, primarily on the development of the AM Economics course.
