Manufacturers
Underwriters Laboratories® partners with manufacturers to provide safe products to consumers through UL testing, certification and follow-up audits. Because the UL Mark is so important, manufacturers must submit a design layout of the UL Mark to a UL label center for review to verify that all required information is in an acceptable format. UL maintains a database of suppliers who are authorized by UL to print labels with the UL Mark.

Authorized label suppliers
UL provides certification to manufacturers that can be identified by consumers through the use of the UL Mark on the product. UL authorizes certain suppliers to print labels with the UL Mark. An advance review eliminates potential disruption in production due to an unacceptable UL Mark design. Learn more.
Follow-Up Services procedures
UL offers Follow-Up Services that audit products at predefined intervals after the initial certification so that manufacturers and consumers can feel confident that quality is maintained.
Anti-counterfeiting
Product counterfeiting is a thriving multi-billion dollar global industry. Counterfeiters copy and sell anything that turns a profit, without regard to quality or safety. To prevent counterfeit UL Marks, UL has introduced a new holographic UL Mark that will be required in 32 common consumer product areas, including power supply cords, nightlights and ceiling fans. The redesigned label incorporates cutting-edge technology, elevated security features and a unique hologram design, making it easy to identify and validate, yet incredibly difficult to replicate. Market Surveillance Department
The Market Surveillance Department works to protect the integrity of UL certifications by investigating Product Incident Reports and by proactive Market Surveillance investigations on field-obtained product samples.
