UL's Standard Transition for UL 508 (Industrial Control Equipment) and UL 508C (Power Conversion Equipment)

In order to ensure the standards used to evaluate your products continue to be technically cutting edge and globally accepted, we continue our progress harmonizing industrial control equipment (ICE) legacy standards with their IEC-based counterparts.  The result of this harmonization process to date is detailed in the table below.  Our goal is to help you increase your global market access through evaluation and certification to relevant product safety standards.  This harmonization effort, initiated at the behest of and in cooperation with industry, has resulted in the growing suite of national and tri-national (U.S./Canada/Mexico) standards detailed in the table below.  This table identifies affected categories (CCNs) and the corresponding harmonized standards to which they will be transitioned along with other important information critical to the transition of your certified products.

Action Required

Unless indicated otherwise in one of the above-mentioned transitions and if you currently have a product certified to UL 508 (or UL 508C) under one of the affected categories, please contact UL by the requested date to convert your existing file to the appropriate harmonized standard(s). Please request a quotation for the UL 508 (or UL 508C) Transition by either contacting your local sales representative or by using our online Request for Quote. When there, please search for your product category and select "Standard Transition" under Administrative Services on the Services and Deliverables page.

Please note that if you have any product or sales literature that references UL 508 (or UL 508C), you should consider revising such literature to reference the new corresponding harmonized standard.

If you have any questions related to the above, please contact Salvatore Porcillo at Salvatore.Porcillo@ul.com or at +1 631.546.2620.

Please be certain to review this website regularly for updates to the current and new standard transitions.
