Energy Efficiency Certification

Build solid credentials for energy performance.

Energy efficiency regulations are on the rise.  Manufacturers are increasingly required to verify the energy efficiency of their products to validate performance claims and prove compliance with government requirements using an independent third party.  Through UL's Energy Efficiency Certification Program, manufacturers can show consumers, competitors, and regulators that their products are helping lower energy demand.  This program builds on UL's 116 years of engineering integrity, innovation, and unparalleled trust and is committed to helping manufacturers navigate this dynamic space.

The Energy Efficiency Certification program tests and certifies products for their compliance to a variety of energy efficiency requirements.

UL is proud to offer testing for the following programs:

Once testing is complete and a product is certified, information about it is included on our Database of Validated and Certified Products, an online tool that allows users to identify efficient products by product category, company name or product name.  Manufacturers may then use the Energy Efficiency Certification logo on marketing materials and packaging, as well as on the product itself.

Opportunities are available to leverage participation in the energy efficiency program with one of our other programs, either including Environmental Claims Validation or Sustainable Product Certification.  As always, UL is available to help with safety certification in addition to the energy efficiency needs.
