Overheated electrical connections have been the root cause of several recalls. Examples of these recalls include: poor solder connection, loose screw connections, too few strands included in a connection, oxidation on aluminum connectors, corrosion, poor crimp connections, erosion of contact surfaces, and mechanical fatigue. To mitigate the risk of fire due to overheated electrical connections in appliances, the Nichrome Wire Test has been added to several UL major appliance standards. Join UL experts to learn more about the Nichrome Wire Test and learn how these requirements may impact your appliance designs.
