Driven by the increasing trend towards global energy conservation and emission reduction, LED lighting technology is one important way to develop low-carbon economy due to its extremely low energy consumption. While the adoption of LED lighting technology has progressed rapidly in the field of public lighting, it has grown more gradually other applications, including indoor business and household lighting. At the same time, the market for LED lighting for use in hazardous locations (HazLoc) has also grown.

Since explosion proof lighting is widely used in flammable and combustible environments where electricity exist, the product should be tested and certified to both the UL 1598 and UL 844 safety standards, to help avoid explosive accidents during use of the lighting fixture.
