NORTHBROOK, Ill., January 30, 2009 – Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) announced today an agreement to promote the use of UL Standards for Safety in the ongoing development of national safety standards in Peru via formalized communication and information exchange protocols.
The agreement was signed by both UL and INDECOPI management. This is the seventh such agreement announced by UL in support of its public safety mission and brand globalization initiatives. Earlier, UL announced a similar agreement with:
BSJ, the national standards body of Jamaica, IBNORCA, the national standards body of Bolivia in South America,
INTECO, the national standards body of Costa Rica in Central America,
SASO, the national standards body of Saudi Arabia,
SII, the national standards body of Israel, and
TTBS, the national standards body of Trinidad and Tobago.

INDECOPI is accredited as the national standards writing organization in Peru.
