Underwriters Laboratories (UL) today announced that Marla Gottschalk has been elected to UL’s board of trustees.
NORTHBROOK, Ill. — June 24, 2009 — Underwriters Laboratories (UL) today announced that Marla Gottschalk has been elected to UL’s board of trustees.
Ms. Gottschalk is currently chief executive officer of The Pampered Chef®, the premier direct seller of high-quality kitchen tools and a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of businesses. Gottschalk leads The Pampered Chef’s executive team, and is responsible for the overall direction of the business, in addition to overseeing the long-range planning and defining corporate strategy for the company.

Since joining the company, Ms. Gottschalk launched a new brand positioning to contemporize the brand and better reflect what makes the company unique. She introduced the new tagline "Discover the chef in you," as well as the company’s three largest new product launches in 2006 and 2007. Her leadership has significantly improved efficiency and increased service levels to consultants and customers.

Prior to The Pampered Chef, Ms. Gottschalk worked for Kraft Foods, Inc., where she held a variety of positions including Executive Vice President and General Manager of Post Cereals and Senior Vice President, financial planning and investor relations.
Ms. Gottschalk earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Indiana University and a master of management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She was recently inducted into the Academy of Alumni Fellows of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, and serves on the Kelley School of Business Dean’s Advisory Council.
