MARIETTA, GA., March 29, 2018 — UL (Underwriters Laboratories) today announced that the Taiwan Architecture and Building Center (TABC) has agreed to add products that have received the TABC Green Building Material mark to SPOT®, UL’s web-based product sustainability information tool. The addition of the products to SPOT will give architects and designers in Asia greater access to credible green products that meet sustainable building standards in their region.  UL will also add criteria for TABC’s Green Building Program to SPOT, so users are able to find products that contribute to credits within the building certification.

SPOT features more than 50,000 credible green products and facilitates in their selection for the design community, professional purchasers and others seeking sustainable products. Additionally, UL developed an add-in for AutoDesk® Revit™ users to access product data from SPOT and assign it directly to their project. TABC certified products will be included in this add-in, providing unprecedented visibility into trusted green product information and selection.

“UL is pleased to partner with TABC to provide regionally relevant information and increased access to green building materials for architects and designers on UL’s SPOT digital platform,” said Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager of UL Environment. “The addition of TABC’s certified products and building criteria is an important step in the evolution of SPOT to be a key resource for green building in Asia.”

Mr. Hsu, CEO of TABC, states: “By combining TABC and UL data on SPOT, we will forge a most fertile environment to add value through Legacy Development, while promoting a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, living quality and increased competitiveness in the “Internet of Things”-giving way to a better life through data.”

SPOT database is powered by UL, a leading safety science company and developer of globally-recognized sustainability standards with a 120+ year history. In addition to the SPOT add-in for Revit, UL is developing tools such as expanded listings to enhance the ability to find and select healthier, more sustainable products.
