The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Approved UL LLC as a Licensed Certification Body for Their WaterSense® Program

July 10, 2017

On June 2, 2017, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved UL LLC as a licensed certification body for their WaterSense® program. This service, which will be managed by UL’s Plumbing Products and Water System Program, allows manufacturers to prove their products use less water without compromising product performance.

“Our customers have been asking us to expand our Plumbing services to include EPA’s WaterSense® program” said Edward Kloss, Business Segment Manager for Water Systems.  “So we are excited to be able to now offer this service.”

This program both reinforces UL’s commitment to water conservation and lets UL customers participate in a national water efficiency brand. Consumers look for the WaterSense® label when making the decision to buy water efficient products.

UL is now accepting projects in our WaterSense® scope of offerings:

  • Lavatory Faucets
  • Showerheads
  • Commercial Pre-rinse Spray Valves
  • Tank-type Toilets
  • Flushometer-valve Toilets
  • Flushing Urinals
