UL Ventures’ portfolio company 3DSIM successfully acquired by ANSYS

November 27, 2017

On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, UL Ventures’ portfolio company 3DSIM was successfully acquired by ANSYS, the global leader of engineering simulation software. The acquisition of 3DSIM, the developer of premier additive manufacturing simulation technology, gives ANSYS the industry’s only complete additive manufacturing simulation solution.

“We first became interested in 3DSIM because they shared our goal of rapidly advancing simulation for additive manufacturing processing. Their software solutions were moving the manufacturing industry away from reliance upon costly experimental testing and toward predictable, safe and timely production,” said Simin Zhou, VP & Managing Director of UL Ventures. “We’re delighted to be part of 3DSIM’s journey over the past three years to create industry leading products and are excited to see the team and products scale through the support of ANSYS. Congratulations to the 3DSIM team as they take the next step in their growth.”
