UL has released an end-to-end EMV(Europay, MasterCard and Visa) certification program to support U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card acceptance.  Part of an overall U.S. Bank effort to migrate from magnetic stripe read to chip-enabled cards, the program is designed to help ensure seamless acceptance of U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card chip-enabled fleet transactions.

The UL program includes an EMV contact test plan, a U.S. Bank Fleet Card EMV certification guide as well as a U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card module for the UL Brand Test Tool (UL BTT), used by acquirers, processors, terminal vendors and merchants to validate their payment devices for successful acceptance of Voyager chip cards.

The U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card Module embedded within the UL BTT enables U.S. Bank Voyager teams and their partners to reduce testing and certification cycles, ease test case failure troubleshooting, decrease overall execution time and automate card terminal validations.  The UL BTT for the U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card provides a platform for plastic card elimination and chip-enabled card adoption and clear visibility of EMV interactions between the card and the terminal.  In addition, the program supports specific security, monitoring and tracking terminal specifications and functionalities for the U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card, including driver identification and other pre-transaction requirements.

Part of a suite of solutions, the U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card is designed to enhance driver, fuel and maintenance efficiency and help companies reduce fleet vehicle costs while supporting data integrity and preventing fraud and misuse.  The UL testing and certification program now helps provide seamless and secure transactions for the U.S. Bank Voyager Fleet Card at more than 320,000 merchants, including 97% of all fuel retail locations throughout the U.S.

Isabelle Noblanc, vice president and general manager, UL’s Identity Management and Security division, said, “We are delighted with the release of this program after a successful collaboration with U.S. Bank Voyager. This end-to-end program helps ensure compliance and interoperability for all stakeholders accepting Voyager chip cards and further demonstrates how UL is enhancing payment ecosystem safety and helping companies reduce risks while accelerating time to revenue.”
