Ministry of Economy Releases Order for the Use of Processing Aids in Certain Foodstuffs (France)

The Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Digital Technology – Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention of France has released an Order amending annexes IA and IC of the Order of 19 October 2006 allowing the use of certain ethylene oxide and propylene oxide copolymers as anti-foaming agents in the sugar manufacturing process.

The Order also authorizes the use of two new enzymes (glucose oxidase and maltogenic exo-amylase) evaluated by a European Union (EU) member State, and three new enzymes (alpha-amylase, phosphodiesterase I, and xylanase) evaluated by the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) .

A public consultation for this is open until September 8, 2015. Additional proposed implementation dates include:

  • Proposed date of adoption: November 1, 2015
  • Proposed date of publication: December 31, 2015
  • Proposed date of entry into force: Beginning of 2016
