EC Releases Amendments to Toy Safety Directive

EUROPEAN UNION - The European Commission (EC) has released three revisions to the Toy Safety Directive specific to Appendix C of Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC.
 
Revisions are effective as of December 13, 2015, however, member states will adopt the new provisions for formamide and BIT starting May 24, 2017, and MI, CMI and MI/CMI beginning November 24, 2017. The Committee established in Article 47 of Directive 2009/48/EC has agreed to the following limits:

chloroisothiazolinone (CMI) 26172-55-4 0.75 mg/kg content in aqueous toy materials
methylisothiazolinone (MI) 2682-20-4 0.25 mg/kg content in aqueous toy materials
mixture CMI and MI 55965-84-9 1 mg/kg content in aqueous toy materials
