Four government regulatory agencies in Brazil are exploring the possibility of establishing a regulation that would set limits on cadmium found in jewelry.
The decision to create the regulation stems from an incident where Brazilian authorities seized 16 tonnes of Chinese jewelry, with large amounts of cadmium. Brazilian authorities are looking at U.S. and EU cadmium regulations (U.S, 0.03 percent limit; EU, 0.01 percent limit) as a potential guideline.
