#### Appliance Wiring Material (AWM) and wiring harnesses

For component wiring, our Appliance Wiring Material (AWM) testing and certification program helps manufacturers demonstrate compliance to ANSI/UL 758, with 7,000+ AWM styles available by material, voltage, temperature, environment and flame ratings via Product iQ®, which many OEMs use to source UL Recognized components.

If your supply chain includes third‑party harness builders, the Wiring Harness Traceability Program monitors cable as it moves from manufacturer to harness producer and into final assembly, supported by a network of thousands of UL‑certified harness manufacturers.

#### Data center cable testing and certification

As data centers scale to higher power densities and increasingly complex electrical architectures, manufacturers, operators and system integrators must address electrical, thermal and operational demands specific to these modern high-performance computing environments. To support these emerging needs, UL Solutions developed UL 2137, the Outline of Investigation for Data Center Power Cable, introducing construction and safety requirements specifically for fixed intra-data-center power distribution. [Find out more.](https://www.ul.com/services/data-center-power-cable-testing-and-certification)

For Cord sets and power-supply cords intended for use in the data center, we offer testing and certification to UL 817A, which builds on the principles of UL 817, the Standard for Cord Sets and Power-Supply Cords, but accounts for the higher power levels typically used in data centers. Testing to UL 817A helps manufacturers and data center stakeholders demonstrate their commitment to advancing the safety and performance of power distribution in high-demand, high-density environments. Get [further details here](https://www.ul.com/services/data-center-power-cable-testing-and-certification).

We also offer testing, verification and certification programs to address performance and reliability of high-speed signal and data connectivity interfaces. [Discover more here.](https://www.ul.com/services/data-sync-and-charger-cable-testing-certification-program)

#### Wire and Cable Material Recognition Program

The Wire and Cable Material Recognition Program evaluates compounds used in cable products against applicable standards and can help reduce re‑testing for certain certifications when UL Recognized components are used. Programs include QMTT2 polymeric materials for wire, cable and flexible lighting products, QMTM2 plenum cable compounds that support NFPA 262 composition analysis, and QMTN2 materials for AWM constructed to UL 758.

  ## Frequently asked questions

  ### Does UL Solutions offer high-speed cable and connectivity testing and certification?

*add* *remove* Yes, UL Solutions offers testing, verification and certification programs to address performance and reliability of high-speed signal and data connectivity interfaces.

   ### Which factors are assessed during wire and cable testing?

*add* *remove* Depending on the product and intended installation, UL Solutions evaluates safety and performance attributes such as flammability and smoke (for plenum, riser and general use), electrical properties, environmental exposures, materials and construction, as described in [The UL Solutions Wire and Cable Application Guide](/thecodeauthority/knowledge/wire-cable-guide) and category‑specific Standards.

   ### What is the difference between UL Listed, UL Classified, UL Certified and UL Verified cables?

*add* *remove* “UL Listed” indicates the product has been evaluated for all reasonably foreseeable safety‑related hazards for its intended use, “UL Classified” addresses specific risks or conditions, “UL Certified” is an enhanced Mark that can bundle multiple certifications, and “UL Verified” applies to performance verification programs such as transmission performance for communications cable. The Application Guide explains how each Mark appears on tags, reels or smallest unit containers and how to interpret them.

   ### How do I confirm a cable’s certification and markings?

*add* *remove* Check the listing or certification tag on the reel, flange or smallest unit container and verify details in Product iQ®. Surface printing is supplemental, and the tag is primary evidence of UL Solutions certification, as outlined in the Application Guide.

   ### How does UL Solutions help deter counterfeit communications cables?

*add* *remove* UL Solutions employs holographic labels, global surveillance and anti‑counterfeiting programs in partnership with customs and local authorities, helping protect buyers and installers and maintaining confidence in the UL Mark for communications cabling.
