This virtual town hall meeting hosted by UL will share important information about the May 22, 2020 proposal to revise UL 827, the Standard for Central Station Services.

The proposed changes include the addition of requirements which address monitoring station operators working from remote locations, such as at home.

The objective of this meeting is to provide background information and insight into the rationale behind this standard proposal, as well as information regarding how you can participate in the public review process via UL’s Collaborative Standards Development System (CSDS).

Meeting agenda:

  • UL’s technical experts will summarize the development of the proposal, beginning with the March 16, 2020 ‘UL Guidelines for Virtual Workplaces’, through the formation of a Task Group to develop new requirements and finally, the work product ultimately delivered by the Task Group.
  • A detailed walk through of the proposal, sharing insights to the Task Group’s rationale and the proposal language’s intent.
  • A review of UL’s CSDS process and instructions on how attendees can utilize this system to provide feedback in the form of comments and suggestions to the proposal.

Time will be provided for questions that help clarify the proposal’s intent, or questions regarding public participation in the CSDS process.

Please note that the purpose of this meeting is not to debate the merits of the proposal, or offer additional revision suggestions, but rather to gain a better understanding of the proposal and learn how to provide comments or suggestions via the public review process.
