UL Standards have been the industry benchmark for commercial displays for more than 64 years. During this time, displays have undergone many innovations including embedded computers, motion and LED lighting. In addition, displays are developed and manufactured for a shorter lifecycle to keep retail shelves fresh and exciting.
Following recommendations of stakeholders and the Standards Technical Panels, we are working to ensure that our Standards keep up with this wave of innovation. We are pleased to introduce a new standard that combines UL 65 and UL 962 into a single streamlined standard with modernized requirements and requirements for temporary displays. That result, UL 970, the Standard for Retail Fixtures and Merchandise Displays, was published on February 20, 2020 and provides updated requirements for commercial displays, showcases and temporary displays.
