UL is evolving its international operating model in order to better adapt to a changing business environment in Europe. As part of this operational change, we have changed the name of UL AG to UL GmbH.

Your invoice may also include a new supplier reflecting the UL branch you work with and your ship-to location.

The name change went into effect on July 1, and we asked clients to update the payee name from UL AG to UL GmbH on remittances after October 1, 2018. Payments should no longer be directed to UL AG.

Changes to supplier names and the inclusion of VAT (where applicable) will be on invoices in Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and Italy beginning in 2019.

UL changed the name of UL AG to UL GmbH. This name change was the result of a legal form change from “AG” to “GmbH” which is similar to an “Inc.” changing to an “LLC.”

Beginning in 2019, all applicable VAT rules will be used in Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and Italy. VAT, where applicable, will appear on new quotes, orders and invoices.

Please ensure the payee name is UL GmbH and not UL AG on remittances after October 1, 2018. Payments should no longer directed to UL AG. Bank account numbers do not change.

For quotes and orders accepted and in process before January 1, 2019, UL GmbH will be the supplier and VAT will not be applied. No reissuance is necessary, but we ask that you update the payee name from UL AG to UL GmbH immediately if you have not already. Payments should no longer be directed to UL AG.

Starting January 1, 2019, all new work quotes and orders will include applicable VAT and the EU branch supplier information where the work originated. This may cause a difference in your PO system as the supplier name may have changed. If your internal processes require you to reissue the PO, please contact your customer service representative for information required to update your system.

Existing quotes and orders will not be impacted. Beginning in January 2019, expired quotes will be cancelled, and new ones issued including new EU supplier names and VAT where applicable.

The name, address and supplier from which your invoice is issued may change, however banking and the REMIT TO remains the same (UL GmbH). Please ensure the Payee name has been updated to UL GmbH as noted on the remittance instructions.

Individual supplier forms for each country with corresponding VAT numbers are available. Your UL customer service representative is available at www.ul.com/contactus for specific questions or to provide additional documentation that you may require to update your system.

VAT UL collects is not a cost nor a price increase. VAT in Europe for business to business transactions is neutral and you will net the amount of VAT paid to UL with VAT you collect doing business with your customers.

For quotes and orders accepted and in process before January 1, 2019, UL GmbH will be the supplier and VAT will not be applied. No reissuance is necessary. Starting January 1, 2019, all new work quotes and orders will include applicable VAT and the EU branch supplier information where the work originated.
