As Zambia’s agriculture industry has grown, so too has its use of child labor. While child labor is an issue across industries, according the International Labor Organization (ILO) over 90 percent of employed seven to 14-year-olds work in agriculture. Zambia has laws, policies, and political commitments to address the issues of child labor, but has still seen a rise in child labor since 2012. A lack of public knowledge, especially in poorer areas, is attributed for the rise in spite of anti-child labor laws.
