Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) is seeking public consultation on the proposed amendments on labeling requirements for prepackaged food, unpackaged food, food additives and food vending locations for food containing ingredients of genetically modified organisms (GMO).

This amendment provides the labeling requirements for food products containing genetically modified organisms (GMO). Food products that use GMO directly during the manufacturing process but the final products don’t contain transgenic DNA or transgenic proteins must label one of the following statements listed in Article 2. For food products not containing GMO ingredients, they may be labeled with the following statements/words as stated in Article 4.

The draft amendment is open for public consultation until August 12, 2018.
