Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has issued Proposed Amendments to the Provisions on the Inclusion of Nutritional Labeling in Packaged Foods and the Provisions on the Labeling of Packaged Foods Exempted from Nutrition.

The key amendments of the proposal are:

  1. To increase the labeling of transverse cutting and marking of multi-tastes, and greatly enhance the convenience of people reading nutritional labeling.
  2. Add g, mg, mL, L and other common people’s awareness of common unit symbols.
  3. Modify the principle of data trimming, increasing the way to trimming rounding.
  4. Adding products of indefinite weight (such as black caviar) can be remarked with the word “约”.

The consultation is open for pubic consultation until January 7, 2018
