The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has launched Saudi Product Safety program (SALEEM). The program aims to provide customers of market with high-quality products. The SALEEM program is seeking to set procedures for ensuring the safety of local and imported products subject to Saudi standards.
To accelerate the SALEEM program, Saudi Arabia has introduced a new online conformity assessment system for imported products, referred to as SABER. This SABER system will be a required mandatory database for the SALEEM program’s technical data, test reports, certificates, etc.
The SABER system was scheduled for a voluntary registration from February 1, 2018 and if this trial becomes successful, mandatory registration will follow suit and become mandatory as of July 1, 2018.
