The Qatari government has passed a new bill aimed at supporting and protecting foreign workers in the country. The bill establishes the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund, which is designed to see that workers are paid their overdue wages. The bill also includes a minimum wage for foreign workforce, to ensure workers are paid fairly, and can meet living expenses. This could mark a turning point for Qatar, which has faced criticism for its tax laws on overdue wages, and the treatment of its foreign workforce.
