The government of New Zealand is planning to ban of the sale of personal care products containing tiny plastic microbeads. In line with this, a consultation period for the document released as “Managing microbeads in personal care products.”

The plan to ban microbeads aims to protect the marine life from eating and digesting these tiny plastics. Products that use microbeads are facial scrubs, toothpaste and body wash.

The consultation is open until February 28, 2017.
