The new European standard EN 1888–2 specifies the additional safety requirements and test methods for pushchairs, designed for the carriage of one or more children, above15 kg and up to 22 kg each. This European standard applies in conjunction with and in addition to the European standard EN 1888–1 and cannot be used separately.

The standard EN 1888–2:2018 has been approved in August 2018 and the main requirements present in the new standard are:

  • Introduction of requirements and test methods for the restraint system
  • Introduction of requirements and test methods for the parking and braking devices
  • Introduction of requirements and test methods to verify the stability of the product
  • Introduction of requirements and test methods to verify the structural integrity after the irregular surface test
  • Introduction of requirements and test methods to verify the structural integrity after the dynamic strength
  • Introduction of requirements and test methods to verify the structural integrity after the handle strength
