The new European standard EN 1888–1 specifies the safety requirements and test methods for pushchairs and prams, designed for the carriage of one or more children, up to 15 kg each and up to 20 kg for any integrated platform on which a child can stand. The standard EN 1888–1:2018 has been approved in August 2018.

The standard EN 1888:2012 has been modified and the modification has been included in the EN 1888–1:2018. The main requirements present in the new standard are:

  • Revision of the chemical hazards requirement
  • Modification of the entrapment hazards requirement
  • Modification of hazards from moving parts requirement
  • Modification of the entanglement hazards requirement
  • Modification of the test method of the parking and braking device
  • Modification of the requirement and test method concerning the stability of the product
  • Introduction of an informative Annex giving relevant translations for warning sentences
