The New Zealand Ministry of Environment (MOE) has notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the document released for managing microbeads in personal care products.

The WTO notification aims to create regulations that could prohibit or control the manufacture and sale of personal care products containing microbeads in New Zealand under section 23(1)(b) of the Waste Minimization Act (WMA) 2008.

WTO announces consultation for this until May 7, 2017.
