The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has enforced F. No. 11/03/Reg/Fortification/2014 Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2018 on August 2, 2018.

The Regulation specifies that all fortified food must not fall below the minimum level of micro nutrients specified in Schedule-I. Fortified food must undergo and submit evidence of quality assurance. Fortified food must also be packed and labeled in accordance with Article 7 of the Regulation.

This Regulation shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette and food business operator shall comply with all the provisions of these regulations by January 1, 2019.
