UL, a global leading quality assurance service provider in the consumer products industries, is a notified body of toys by the GCC Standards Organization (GSO) to test and certify products for the Gulf Mark (G Mark) certification scheme.

Toys importing to the GSO countries are required to comply with the requirements of GSO Technical Regulation on Toys (BD131704-01). GSO countries include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. These include but are not limited to Marking & Labelling, Safety Assessment, Technical Documentation Review, G Mark certification registration, etc. Suppliers who produce, market, distribute and sell toys in the GSO countries are obliged to meet all requirements under this Technical Regulation.

GSO has recently published a guidance about the Rules for the Use of the GSO Conformity Tracking Symbol (GCTS).  Toys subject to the conformity assessment by notified body shall bear the GSO Conformity Tracking Symbol (GCTS) and comply with the requirements in this guidance.  This requirement has been effective since 1st January 2017 and become mandatory for all concerned products from 1st April 2017.
