The European Commission (EC) has released Commission Regulation (EU) 2017752 amending and correcting Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food on April 29, 2017.

The regulation amends Annexes I, II, III and IV to Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. Specifically, the regulation sets new limits for nickel used in plastic materials to 0,02 mg/kg food or food simulant.

This regulation comes into force on May 19, 2017. For the nickel limit, the enforcement will begin on May 19, 2018.
