The European Commission (EC) has issued Amendment to Annex XIV of Regulation (EC) No. 19072006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Concerning Four Phthalates.

This Amendment requires that previously exempted uses of four phthalates, namely, bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) now be required authorization due to their classification as toxic for reproduction.

The proposal is open for public consultation until August 6, 2018.
