US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued 82 FR 41163 — Prohibition of Children’s Toys and Child Care Articles Containing Specified Phthalates: Determinations Regarding Certain Plastics

This final rule specifies that children’s toys and child care articles with polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), general purpose polystyrene (GPPS), medium-impact polystyrene (MIPS), high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), super high-impact polystyrene (SHIPS) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), with specified additives are low risk for phthalates and do not require third party testing.

This rule is effective starting September 29, 2017.
