The Canada Gazette has proposed to list 2-ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate as toxic substance in Schedule 1 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA).

This means the 2-ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate is harmful and meets the section 64 criterion relating to human health, on account of its reproductive toxicity. 2-ethylhexyl 2-ethylhexanoate is usually used in cosmetics in Canada.

A draft screening assessment was released for this.
